Leaving New Brunswick
This post is part of my Atlantic Canada road trip series! Two summers ago my friend, Alyshia, and I spent two weeks driving around three different provinces, and we started in New Brunswick.
The way we scheduled our time in New Brunswick was to stay in Saint John for two nights, do an afternoon trip over to the Sea Martin Caves, and then save a lot of our stop offs for the last day when we’d drive through the province to get to Prince Edward Island. Below is everywhere we stopped off at so we could get to our place in PEI by dinner and try to beat the worst of the rain:
Where We Stopped in New Brunswick

Lunch at Tipsy Tails in Alma
Our first stop was in the town of Alma to get lunch at Tipsy Tails. It’s right by Fundy National Park, so I think we thought we’d drive through the park and stop off anywhere that seemed pretty. Unfortunately, like I mentioned above, this was our crappiest weather day and was raining as we drove, so no stops for us! Tipsy Tails, however, was delicious. As you can see, I got the lobster roll (again) and Alyshia got one of their soups to warm up.

Caught in a Torrential Downpour at Hopewell Rocks
The main place we wanted to spend time at was Hopewell Rocks Provincial Park. We probably saw a picture or video somewhere and added it to our road trip list! The rocks are known as sea stacks and they were formed by tidal erosion. If you go at high tide, you can actually kayak around them and then at low tide you can walk out to them.
I’m not kidding, we managed to walk there to see the rocks and then the skies absolutely opened up and we were stranded under the stairs until things let up enough to get back to the pick up area for the transport carts. It was like harshest days of monsoon season in Vietnam type of rainfall and we couldn’t even climb back up the stairs that’s how hard it was coming down!

Giant Lobster in Shediac
And then our very last stop before getting on Confederation Bridge was to say hello to The World’s Largest Lobster in Shediac! Shediac itself is known as “The Lobster Capital of the World,” but we only had time for the lobster and a quick lobster roll before headed off. The downpour set us back quite a bit!
And there you have it, a very quick rundown of where we went went leaving New Brunswick!
