Packing List for Hot Weather Travel
As I was packing for Vietnam, I thought I’d go over what I’m putting in my suitcase for a two and a half week vacation to a warm weather place. While I am checking in my suitcase, it’s still only carry-on size, and I like to keep it as light as possible. Here’ a general idea of my packing list for travel to hot climates (I really enjoy A Pair & A Square’s 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 packing list that my friend sent me but I’ve made a few changes).
7 Tops
To be fair I’ll be wearing two of these tops on the plane, but it’ll roughly be a baseball T-shirt, a plane V-neck, a short-sleeved blouse, two tunic style tops, one tank, and one cargo jacket. I don’t like fitted tanks, and I’m never sure just how conservative a country might be, so I’m also not big on spaghetti straps. Typically I go for breathable fabrics like linen or cotton.
5 Bottoms
My favorite pair of pants come from Uniqlo. Of all the jeggings I’ve tried over the years, their cropped version is the most comfortable and the most flattering I’ve ever worn (I tried to go back to American Eagle jeggings and I hated it). I’m wearing my jeggings on the plane, and I might wear them on a cooler night in Vietnam, but they’re pretty much just going to plane pants. I’m also bringing along a pair of lounge pants (breathable and comfortable), a pair of denim shorts, a pair of running shorts, and a shorter black skirt. I’m not crazy about maxi skirts because I don’t think they flatter me very often, and I hate the thought of them ever being at risk of dragging on the ground. Also if I want to rent a bike, they make it a little harder to ride.
3 Shoes
Sneakers for the plane and for comfort (also if we do anything more adventurous) and two pairs of sandals (one sturdy and one prettier).
2 Dresses
I have these two cotton dresses that I absolutely love. They don’t wrinkle, they’re comfortable, and if I eat a little more at dinner they don’t show it. ;)
1 Bathing Suit
A cute black one piece for swimming and beach days. Even when I was thinner and swimmer shape, I never had much luck with bikinis.
1 Pair of Sunglasses
I’m still debating on weather I want my aviators or just a simple black pair, but I definitely don’t need multiple glasses for a trip.
1 Hat
I need to pick up a straw hat in Vietnam because I got rid of my one from last year. I say straw because a felt hat would definitely get too hot for me.
